Christmas Social 2010

We had a great time at Brittany's house (thank you!).

Everyone wore "ugly Christmas sweaters" and brought food for our lovely soup and bread bowl dinner with drinks and homemade desserts.  Bradyrian even missed school that day spending the whole day baking hundreds of homemade cookies and rice crispy squares for us (not endorsed by the teacher).

We all wrote a special note to everyone in the company on Christmas Cards while listening to holiday music.

We exchanged white elephant gifts (socks).  Some people happened to get matching socks (and became best buds and did face masks), while some got pantyhose.

We finished the evening talking, socializing, and watching clips of last year's PDC Concert.

Good Times!!!

November 2010 PDC Newsletter

Service: Benefit Concert Performances

PDC used their talents to help bless, uplift, and raise money for others in need at 2 benefit concerts!

First was the LPHS Glee Club Alice in Wonderland Fashion Show Extravaganza Benefit Concert for Stacey Herrin (a sweet Lp student who got in a bad car accident and was paralyzed for a while) at Noahs, where PDC Performed their "Donk" dance with crazy leggings. "Donk Video"

Second was a Benefit Concert for Ruth Clarke, a young mom with terminal breast and bone cancer.  PDC was the only dancers and they performed both Shakespeare dances. This benefit ended up earning close to $5000 to help pay for her cancer and chemo treatments!

It is so nice to be able to do things outside or ourselves and for others and to realize how much we have to be grateful for and how much more we can give.

Good Job PDC!

Shakespeare Festival 2010!

Congratulations to the Performing Dance Company (the 6 dancers that went)

We took FIRST PLACE in BOTH the dance ENSEMBLE and the DUO/TRIO categories for our division (which division is for the largest number of students in a school).  First time ever getting first place in both!!!  AND, both dances were done by student choreographers!

Hope to see some pics up here soon :)

Opening Social / Dinner Party

On Tuesday, September 21 PDC had a lovely dinner party at Beth Covey's beautiful house!

We came with our moms, all dressed up and enjoyed a yummy dinner, while approving our Chicago trip and getting to know each other outside of dance.

We also received a beautiful handmade necklace pendant that said PDC on one side.  They boys, I mean, men, will be receiving a dog tag with similar inscription, so they can feel similar, but not too pretty.  Dancers, please pay $20 to Beth to help reimburse her family for the necklaces.

Can't wait for our next social!

PDC Summer Dance Camp 2010

Natosha Washington's "Donk" Dance
We all made it!

Conditioning, technique, improv, learning a dance in one day, and the limo ride to the 2 day Ririe-Woodbury High School Workshop... lots of dance and lots of fun, even amongst the injuries (or surgeries) that were brought in or appeared.  I hope the dancers will keep up with their personal training and conditioning on their own time to keep their bodies strong and prevent further injury.

Good job to Anne Marit who didn't give up and walk, but ran all they way, each time we went out to do cardio!

Right on men for sticking with us amongst a bunch of crazy girls, finding ways to be masculine and taking the test of continual lifts and catches of the girls (wrestling room).  Speaking in terms of motivation, Bradyrian sure keeps us going strong and positive!

Way to go Alyssa Lone who just performed in "Momentum" as one of the few "youngsters" in this professional performance which included past and present Ririe-Woodbury "Step Up" dancers.

Good Luck to Brittany LeSueur who was voted to choreograph the Shakespeare Ensemble Dance and Nyahka Greer who was voted to choreograph the Shakespeare Duo/Trio Dance.  Keep working hard!

We will miss those that left us on company, but will use these difficult opportunities to utilize our "creative problem solving" abilities to revamp our choreography to be even better than before.  Let us all work together and put our choreographer classes on :)

Cedar Hills Parade

Today PDC participated in the Cedar Hills Parade!

Thanks to all who came and danced to represent PDC. A big thanks to our helpers who drove the truck for us :) Thank you to Brittany and Nyah who came up with the movement for parade. We did good improvising to random music since we had generator, ipod connector, problems.

I guess next time we need to bring more than 2 bags of costco candy and more than 100 otter pops (the otter pops were meant for the dancers, but we ran out of candy).

Anyone have any pictures of us?
