PDC September Email and Newsletter

Hello all!

We have had a successful Dance Camp and first few weeks of school.  Routines are getting set and PDC Officers have been voted on.  We also have our "Dance Buddies" for the first semester.  We will do something with/for our buddies about 2x a month.

We did figure out who made the long-distance calls during our hotel stay during Dance Camp.  It was an honest mistake/misunderstanding with the calls.  The dancers are good kids :)

All dancers will be working on required and graded research and proposals for student choreography for our upcoming concert based on ART.  Reading, Homework, and other assignments will reflect and prepare students for their proposals and for a deeper understanding of what art is.  We are also looking at doing collaboration with some of the art classes at the school.

OFFICERS:
We have Officer Meetings every Monday at lunch in the Dance Room Office.  We will have one Officer Meeting a month where we will invite parent helpers/booster club to join us.  Officers are:  President-Alex M, Sav B; VP-Malori; Secretaries-Mariah($), Brittany F (calendar);Publicity-Jenna, Jenae; Costumes-Ireland, Lily; Spirit-Izzy, Morgan.

  • pull hair back and no gum in class
  • GET INTO GOOGLE CLASSROOM!!!!
  • look at Group Me texts (get app?)
  • Reading Homework due first class day of the week
  • All parent chaperones must have background check done.  Check in at office if visiting.
  • Be able to access and save our shared Google Drive, Calendar, Google Classroom, Skyward, GroupMe, etc.
  • Parents are welcome to join and follow us on our social media sites: our closed Facebook Group, Instagram, Twitter, etc.
  • Our mandatory after school rehearsal time with all PDC is Tuesdays 2:20-4:40pm.  Do not be absent, and arrange make up work, etc. other times.  Absences will require make-up work to be done.  Every practice is worth participation points.
  • Remember what 10-20 minute warmup we have each day, and bring appropriate attire/shoes.
IMPORTANT:
  • Have you paid for the clothing items you ordered?

MEGAN: What I learned on P

What I learned in Dance Company… Well first of all, I just wanted to say that Dance Company has been one of the funnest experiences I have done in a while. Last year I was debating whether or not I should do it, and I and so grateful that I did.  Through this year, I was able to make about 30 new friends (give or take a few that I already knew), expand on my dancing knowledge and technique, and I was able to have so much fun.  I have learned so many things this year.  Teamwork is one of those things. Even though I have been on many, many teams in the past, this year has expanded my love for being on a team.  I could always count on my peers in Dance Company, who were not only my classmates, but they were my friends. I also learned the importance of hard work and dedication.  During concert week, let me tell you, it can get pretty tough.  One night we even stayed at the school until 10 pm, only to leave because the janitors kicked us out.  It takes a lot of hard work, but it is all worth it. To be on that stage with all those people watching you, with the hot bright lights shining on you with your costumes on and your makeup and hair all done up and the confidence that “you got this” is one of the best feelings ever.  I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to join PDC, and I have never regretted it. Thank you Krista Di Lello for making this year, even with its ups and downs, a wonderful senior year for me.

Hannah's Memories :)

Dance company has been an awesome and learning experience, I have learned better how to choreograph as well as be a versatile dancer. Dancing as well as being friends has made everything on company so worth my time and energy. I have learned how to dedicate myself to a team. One that I love so much :). This has been a great year to be on company and to dance at state and Shakespeare and so many other performances. Thanks for this oppertunity, to my team and to Krisa!

Brielle's End of Year Reflection

My last year on company.
Well least to say I'm very sad to be leaving company this year. It has been so great over the past 2 years that I've done it. I have had so many opportunities and learned so much form being on it for only 2 years. Something that I really learned this year, well I learned a lot about choreographing. It's hard! But it is so rewarding in the end.I really learned how to deal with different personalities, which at times was a struggle but eventually you just learn how to love everyone. I really learned the importance of team work. This was one of the closest nit team I have ever been on and I'm going to miss you all very much.
~Brielle
This year has been an eye opening experience for me. I have had so much fun with everyone on company. I'm going to miss everyone it's been so fun getting to know every single person. I loved learning the proper way to walk like a pedestrian, you have to walk with purpose not stride. Learning different dances all year was so cool for me and improving my technique, my technique is definitely better now then it was at the beginning of the year. Performing was so fun for me at our concerts, Shakespeare, state, was all amazing experiences. Learning to choreograph for myself was extremely difficult and I'm so glad I experienced it. Also choreographing my favorite type of dance and being it was so fun and I enjoyed every bit of it. Thank you for this year guys I love you all. Love Isa

The Odd Kid Out

I'm graduating this year, and I planned everything out. I did all my hard classes Sophomore and Junior year including AP Calc, and AP Physics. What I did not plan on though was Dance Company. I spent 3 quarters of the year, wasting my time doing absolutely nothing. I had no homework at all and spent most periods at school sleeping or playing games. Then third quarter rolled around and I started dancing with the best teacher at LP. Long story short, I loved dancing so much that I started putting in time outside of school dancing and managed to squeeze onto the most talented team in Utah for the last quarter of the year. Dance Company has the best teacher, and the most talented dancers out there. It was honestly a privilege to dance with these amazing people and actually put in some work to get something done. I got way more from the people I worked with then I can ever give back and I am so grateful for that. Thank you for the amazing experience!
