UVU High School Day of Dance Reminder

Reminder of the all day school excused field trip THIS FRIDAY!

You must have turned in your signed permission form and your paid receipt in order to attend.

Since you are taking 2 dance classes, one of them can count towards participation make-up work.  You will also be attending an informal performance, which can count as a concert report, since it is college-level.

Make sure you read your permission form with all the details for when to meet the bus (7:15 AM), what to bring (clothes and lunch), etc.

Look forward to going on this fun filled day-of-dance with you on Friday!  Let's represent Lone Peak!

Please make sure you and your parents are aware of which dances you are in.  You MUST be at ALL practices for the pieces you are in!!!  Every practice is essential.

Every Friday B8 in class we will do showings.  Parents and others are welcome to come and watch and give feedback of our works in progress during our showings, which will start at 1:30 pm.

Nov 1:  Dances need to be half choreographed
Nov 15:  Dances need to be finished choreographed
Nov 25:  Dances should be cleaned

Soon after is the Thanksgiving Break.  Upon returning we go into the 2 weeks of concert prep staying after school doing spacing, tech-ing, lighting, dress rehearsal, etc.

PDC Practices.... After School Reminder

In case you forgot, our regular PDC times are:

Mondays:  1:30-2:40 pm
Tuesdays:  2:30-4:40 pm
Wednesday-Fridays: 2:30-3:40 pm

EVERY PRACTICE IS WORTH PARTICIPATION POINTS.  Absences, leaving early, or being tardy result in a lower participation grade.

You should have scheduled and requested those times off from when you auditioned for PDC last school year (the times were the same as above and set).

You may have times/days when you don't have practice (especially when we start auditioning for student choreographed works, after Shakespeare), but these times were supposed to be blocked off.

You cannot miss practices 1 week before any performance, or you will get multiple demerits.  This is in the contract and demerit paper.

You must be at our scheduled practices, especially since Shakespeare and Homecoming is so close.  No more leaving rehearsal unless it is a deathly emergency and I have received notice from your parents.  This lets the whole team down, wastes a practice, and requires us to have more practices.  Please remember your commitment to the team, and this busy stressful time with both Homecoming and Shakespeare that require excellence on our part, which requires actual attendance on the part of each individual.
"The Sum of Us is Greater than the Individual." (Fish poster in the dance room)

Love you,
Let's enjoy the journey, which means being positive and finding joy in hard times, and finding purpose through working through those tough and stressful spots!  It's these times that show and define our character.
