Good Job Everyone!

I hope you had a blast with our special guest treat "Bradley Beaks" who came and taught the audition master class!!!!  Us judges were jealous and wanted to get up and partake in the lovely movement!  I hope you were able to take something away (you learned something) from the class and audition!

I will have the list posted here tonight or tomorrow.  Everyone did a wonderful job!  There may be some "alternates" that may be notified if accepted PDC members cannot make the commitment/stipulations/conditions set forth.  Dancers will be notified (email or phone) if a spot opens up at any time from now until the end of summer.

If you are accepted into PDC you MUST attend the mandatory dancer and parent new member meeting in 2 weeks to review and discuss the upcoming year, commitment, schedule, etc.  Info will be sent out.

It is highly encouraged that all dancers keep taking technique classes and also that dancers take dance as a fine arts credit where they learn compositional devices, choreographic forms, improvisational skills, dance art, kinesiology, history, etc. as taught in Dance 3/UVU Concurrent Enrollment Dance Class.  Dance 3 is a non-mandatory, but highly encouraged and sought-after requirement for PDC.  It also looks really good for sterling scholar and college transcripts.

Remember, you are all beautiful and talented.  Keep up the good work and KEEP DANCING!!!!!

Important Info for New PDC:

Lp PDC Spring Concert is May 9-10th at 7:00 pm.  Please come (you get in for free).  You will be performing Natalie's Contemporary Combo right before the finale at the end of the concert to introduce the audience to next year's team.  Please make every effort to be there.  We will have a short 1-2 hour practice to space everyone out and review the combo, with date TBA.  Keep checking this blog and your email and join our PDC facebook pages!  Also please add the PDC google calendar to your calendar for important upcoming dates and assignments.

A New Member and Parent Meeting will be held after the PDC Concert, date TBA.  We will review the expectations, requirements, etc. for the upcoming year.  I will be printing off our dates and info for you to give to your studios, in hopes we can work together with scheduling to support our dancers.

Before the school year ends, we will have a New Member Social.  Here I would also like to vote and appoint Officers for PDC so the officers and I can start working over the summer making plans and getting things ready.

We will be having some socials, planning meetings, and perform in some parades throughout the summer for those that are available and around.    Right before school starts (or soon after) we will have a PDC retreat and getting-to-know-you team building social/overnight trip as well.

This is going to be a great year! I am very excited to get to WORK!  (Keep up your push-ups)

NEW PDC REQUIREMENT:
-"HIGHLY encouraged to take Dance 3 (which is UVU concurrent enrollment credit) for all PDC members"
-Incoming Sophomores have the option to take Dance 2 (one semester, first semester) instead of Dance 3 (full year class), while on PDC.  It must be Dance 2 in the high school, not in the middle school, since they are different levels.

But to everyone who tried out:

"Good Work Beautiful Dancers!"

Thank You to everyone who tried out!  Also a BIG thanks to my seniors who helped with the auditions and kids!  

It takes juts, courage, practice, confidence, and putting yourself out there to do auditions.  Especially good job to those that stuck through the clinics and came back to do the auditions - that shows determination and not giving up!  Every chance you have to do auditions makes you better.   

Do not let any audition determine your sense of self or worth or talent!!!!  Keep trying, don't give up, develop your talents, and fight for what you love.  Often times when one door closes, another opens.  Sometimes it doesn't have to do with "who is best" but who the director feels will be best for the company.  Disappointments prove our character when we are able to get back up and positively learn from it to be a better person.

I have dealt with this personally.  I had been in an audition I really wanted, and felt I did awesome.  The director after called me in to talk and said I was one of the best dancers, but felt it wasn't right to put me on right then.  The other judges all were amazed, as they thought I was one of the strongest ones...  But it ended up that this hard pill to swallow left other opportunities open for me and I realized at that time in my life I had other things I needed to take care of.  I never did give up, as dance is still a huge part of my life!

I really hope that everyone who makes it onto PDC really wants to be there and will be positive and will work hard, no matter what is asked of them.  A team really is determined by who is on it and their attitudes, and each year it is very different for me.  It is one of my greatest joys to see dancers learn and grow and develop, applying what they learn to become problem-solving, creative artists who will take risks, think for themselves, find their own voice and SHINE.  (This has been demonstrated time and time again by my PDC dancers who have gone onto college/companies and those that have done the Dance Sterling Scholar).

Remember, PLEASE keep taking dance at a studio to develop your technique, ESPECIALLY BALLET!!! All dance should support each other, not be one or the other.
