LPHS Dance Class Field Trip:
“Three” Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company Student Matinee Performance
Wednesday December 12th 2012.   Rose Wagner Theater, SLC

This Performance:
Junior and Senior High  School students are invited to attend Ririe Woodbury’s student matinee performance.

THREE will be the last full evening of works presented by Artistic Director Charlotte Boye-Chistensen presented by Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company. The evening will feature Interiors (2008), Lost (2007), The Finish Line (2012) and But Seriously... (2011).

Interiors is Boye-Christensen's brilliant collaboration with visual artist Trent Call.
The Finish Line, which premiered in 2012, is Boye-Christensen's work inspired by the ultimate run – the journey through a relationship.

Siesta (1995) is based on the the works of Alberto Giacometti, and is the first work Boye-Christenesn set on the company.
But Seriously… is the the highly successful collaboration between writer David Kranes, comedian/actor Ethan Philips, architect Nathan Webster, and Boye-Christensen.

Graded Assignment: Concert Critique (50 points)
It is a required graded assignment for students in Dance 1, 2, 3 and PDC to attend one university or professional level modern dance concert a semester and write a critique on it.  There are only a couple approved performances available, do not leave it until the last minute at the end of the semester!  This concert performance is approved to count towards the concert report assignment.

Through attending and viewing artistic concert dance, students are able to see professional dancers and professional choreography, thus enhancing their perception, understanding, and appreciation of dance.   Students see new possibilities for dance and what to aspire to when dancing, performing, and choreographing themselves.  There is so much that can be learned through watching.

Cost: $5
These professional concerts usually range from $20-$50 and we, as a school, have the great opportunity to see such companies at a reduced, or even free rate!  There is a minimal transportation charge for the bus at only $5.
